Some of the most electric punk in years has come out of the former East Germany. Lassie, EXWHITE, and Ambulanz among countless others have all been spitting furious bolts of garage swag across the Saxony region. With various members of said bands combining forces for a permutated rush of hooky rhythms and explosive hardcore attack, the resulting nuclear reaction has resulted in an eponymous debut LP of too much power.

Lafff Boxout in the EU via Turbo Discos and Neon Taste Records dropping into North America, infuse Lassie’s ear for warped melody with EXWHITE’s ferocious fretwork. ‘Some’ illustrates this coiled sprig-tight interplay perfectly with its choppy guitar attack and squealing rock licks so infectious it makes you pogo around your room like an idiot. Pure double-denim power punk imbues the strutting ‘Just a Fool’, a browbeat 70s style stomper which shifts the gears of the album’s otherwise frenetic assault.

Every other track is possessed with head-spinning propulsion. ‘Talking’ careers along with cut brakes velocity, its crescendo of shouted “we hear you talking” chants and western riffs yield a nerve-shredding sense of hairy energy. Turbo-charged killers like ‘Kai’ or ‘Master’ further cement their gift for accelerated punk furore, heights hit of such dizzying shred you can taste the blood and sweat on the bass strings.

Committed to unleashing the most potent cuts of garage hardcore in Eastern Germany or anywhere else, the punks of Saxony have unleashed another gem that sits among the best of their joint releases. Fierce, manic, daft, Lafff Box is a total ripper whereby it should be illegal to play it any less than real fucking loud.
